The twelfth edition of Glengyle Distillery's Heavily Peated Malt has been matured in 90% Bourbon and 10% Sherry casks, giving it notes of creamy butterscotch and caramel on the nose, followed by a smokier palate evoking Iberico ham and brandy snaps. The finish is gentler but still retains the trademark peat smoke all the way through.

Tasting notes

Nose: Creamy butterscotch and caramel notes in the beginning, with the development of notes of rye bread and tea leaf.

Palate: A familiar oiliness and smokiness is introduced on the palate, with notes of Iberico ham and brandy snaps.

Finish: A gentle finish, there are notes of lemon sherbert, honeycomb and mint, with the peat smoke carrying through to the finish. 

Glengyle Distillery

Kilkerran whisky is distilled in Campbeltown, from barley to bottle at Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery. Re-opened in 2004 after originally operating from 1872-1925, Mitchell’s Glengyle is under the ownership of Mr Hedley Wright, chairman of Springbank Distillery and descendant of Glengyle’s founder William Mitchell.
