Scapa 16 Year Old is the flagship expression of the distillery’s single malt collection, crafted overlooking the historic Scapa Flow on Orkney.

Matured in ex-American oak casks and bottled at 48% ABV, it combines the island’s signature spirit with the richness of oak. The nose reveals juicy mango, luxurious leather, vanilla cream and clementine peel, while the palate is silky and creamy with spiced apple pie, vanilla fudge, smooth oak and baked pineapple with mulled spices. The finish is complex, fruity and gently spiced, showcasing the elegance of Scapa’s distinctive style.

Scapa Distillery

Scapa is crafted by a small team of 5 dedicated artisans and a Master Distiller, using traditional methods perfected over generations on the Isle of Orkney. One of the last remaining manually operated distilleries is manned 24 hours a day. Their crew works in successive shifts, which means each member shoulders the honour of delivering a consistently smooth, creamy, sweet single malt on their own. 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Notes of juicy mangoes and aromatic, luxurious leather combine with notes of vanilla cream and hints of clementine peel for an enticing nose.

Palate: Silky and creamy on the palate with notes of spiced apple pie, vanilla fudge, smooth oak, and pineapple baked with mulled spices.

Finish: Complex, fruity, and slightly spiced.
