About RAER Alliance
When RAER Scotch Whisky Ltd started to move into the French market, they chose not to go down the same route as other distilleries. They were originally their own importer and distributor – aiming to keep the bespoke and personal touch that all RAER products are known for. However, this meant that they were ‘going it alone’; creating a very difficult route to market!
Director of RAER Alliance, Peter East, had met Sébastien Fricker at several trade shows and was impressed with the brand’s attitude and family-led ethos. Sébastien had experience running both distribution companies and restaurants. It was swiftly decided that RAER and Vignobles Sébastien Fricker would enter into partnership. The partnership was confirmed in September 2024 and via Vignobles Sébastien Fricker RAER are now able to offer a package of products including RAER whiskies and gins, wines, and calvados across France.
In the UK, they've reflected this partnership by introducing Domaine des Ellettes wines under the RAER Alliance label.
About Sebastian Fricker Vignobles:
Sébastien Fricker is an experienced wine-maker and distributor. Fricker’s childhood was spent surrounded by the vines planted by his grandfather and he spent four years as a cellarmaster before establishing Vignoble Sébastien Fricker. He holds two BTS diplomas: in Beverages, Wines & Spirits and Viticulure & Oenology.
Today, Vignobles Sébastien Fricker operate two vignobles (vineyards). The vignoble Domaine des Elletes is located in the Saumur region. Saumur-Champigny is a French appellation for a highly prized red wine made with Cabernet Franc around the town of Saumur in the Loire Valley. Fricker took over this vignoble from his uncles; this is where all of our current wine range is sourced, hence RAER's use of the ‘Les Elettes’ naming.
Fricker also has his own vignoble in Normandy, in the area of Marolles. It is called Domaine des Déserts. This is one of only three vignobles in the region that will actually be selling wines from Normandy. The vignoble is located in a valley in Normandy with 4.5 acres of vines on limestone terroir, and the site even offers outdoor catering. Future plans for the Domaine des Déserts include the building of houses and lodges to create a welcoming resort for tourists (sign the Geraldo's team up ASAP!)
The first vendange (grape harvest) from Domaine des Déserts is expected in 2025.
