Lagg Palo Cortado Finish Small Batch Release 56.2% Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl - NEW
This small batch release from the Isle of Arran Lagg Distillery showcases the distinctive Lagg single Malt aged in Palo Cortado Sherry casks.
Palo Cortado is a rare and highly prized style of Sherry from the Jerez region of Spain. This type of Sherry cask is sought after for maturing whisky as it imparts a complex balance of nutty dryness, caramelised sweetness and oxidative depth as well as adding a nuance Sherry influence to the spirit character.
The Lagg Single Malt is aged initially in Bourbon Barrels before transferring it into ex-Palo Cortado Sherry casks for 6 months. The team then bottled it at 56.2% Vol without chill filtration or added colour.

Isle of Arran Distillers
The Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland is both beautiful and unique. With its mountains, lowlands, glens, lochs and royal castles, it has all the scenery of Scotland and is affectionately known as ‘Scotland in Miniature’.
Their first distillery was built in the foothills of the village of Lochranza in 1994 and the first spirit ran from the stills on 29th June 1995 bringing legal distillation back to Arran after more than 150 years. It was a brand new enterprise and since that first day in June 1995 when the first ever cask was filled, it has gone on to produce the world class Arran Single Malt Whisky which has won international acclaim.
Isle of Arran Distillers remains the only whisky producer on the island and they are the proud owners of two stunning Single Malt distilleries, Lochranza in the north and Lagg Distillery in the south which opened in June 2019 and is home to the peated Lagg Single Malt.
Graham Omand, Lagg Distillery Manager, worked as a stillman at their Lochranza Distillery at the north end of Arran for several years learning from his uncle, former Lochranza Master Distiller James MacTaggart. There he built the knowledge and experience he would need to oversee Lagg Distillery’s construction and lead a brand-new team on the south of the island. Graham is very much looking forward to adding his own interpretation and style to the spirit to ensure it is of the highest possible quality.
