We're delighted to congratulate all the winners of the prestigious Scottish Gin Awards 2018 who were announced at a glitzy ceremony last night in Glasgow. This is Scotland’s biggest spirits competition and winners were selected across 18 categories and what a night it was!
The Isle of Harris Distillery was presented the top award of the night, 'Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year'. The Hebridean distillery fought off competition from four other distilleries to win this well-deserved award. As one of their 'Click & Collect' partners, we are delighted to hear of their success. Huge congratulations to the Harris Gin team!
St Andrews-based Eden Mill also had an extremely successful night, collecting five awards including 'Gin of the Year'. Eden Mill’s Original Gin triumphed in the highly competitive London Dry Gin category fending off 30 other gins before going on to win the judges’ prize for best gin in the overall competition.
Other big winners were Edinburgh Gin who took the title for Growth Business and Innovation of the Year for Edinburgh Gin 1670, a collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. They won silver and bronze taste medals for their Cannonball Navy Strength gin and their Pomegranate and Rose liqueur.
In the 'Distilled Gin of the Year' category, Misty Isle Gin from the Isle of Skye won the gold medal and Persie's unique Dog's Day Gin took silver. Hills and Harbour Gin from The Crafty Distillery were not only awarded bronze in this category but also picked up 'Scottish Gin Destination of the Year' and 'Best Newcomer - Highly Commended' awards.
We're also delighted for our friends at Crossbill who won bronze in the 'London Dry Gin' category.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! It is wonderful to see recognition for the innovation, excellence and hard work of so many gin producers. The Scottish GINdustry is certainly booming!
