All Change for Isle of Cumbrae Distillery

news

After five incredible years, our local heroes - well, heroines - at the Isle of Cumbrae Distillery are passing the baton to a brand new leadership team! Caroline Christie and Struan Fraser from Kilwinning have now taken on full management of the distillery and will work alongside the original Fab Five of Bronwyn, Juli, Lynda, Philippa, and Jenine over the next 2-3 years to ensure a smooth transition.

When we launched the distillery, our goal was to establish a successful and sustainable island business. Over 5 years, we have exceeded our goals with 5 gins and multiple awards, creating employment for islanders, and bringing many new tourists to Millport.” – Isle of Cumbrae Distillers

As the team looked ahead to the next 5 years, they knew it was an important point of growth for the distillery and there were two options open to them; commit to another 5 years or find the next generation of island distillers to take the business forward. A chance meeting here at Geraldo’s with Caroline and Struan proved to be the catalyst for their decision to hand over the keys, and we’re delighted to be a little part of this incredible story!

“It is an exciting day for the distillery and for the island; of course, it is also a sad day for us as we end this amazing chapter together as one of Scotland’s only women’s owned distilleries. […] We are proud that we can leave a successful business and a legacy for the island. We could not be happier for Caroline and Struan and know that the distillery will remain in excellent hands and prosper and grow for many years to come.” – Isle of Cumbrae Distillers
