We're delighted to welcome Mark Connelly of the Glasgow Whisky Festival in-store to share his knowledge of the award-winning Islay Rum range!
The Islay Rum is the first and only rum distillery to date on the Isle of Islay, situated between Kilnaughton Bay in Port Ellen and the Borraichill. This beautiful art deco style building is steeped in Islay history and, after years of neglect, has been lovingly restored to become the home of Islay's first and truly unique rum.
The building once belonged to Hastie's Lemonade and is referred to by locals as "The Old Lemonade Factory".
Islay Barrel Aged Rum - Double Gold Winner at this year's San Francisco World Spirits Competition - is a uniquely Scottish expression, matured in oak casks that once held peaty Islay single malt whisky. Scotland’s cool maritime climate slows the ageing process, allowing deeper integration of flavours. The result is a smooth, yet bold rum with gentle smoke, sweet vanilla, and a touch of coastal salinity.
Islay Rum Peat Spiced - Gold Winner at the 2024 World Rum Awards - has a core of orange, ginger and cacao nibs amongst other secret ingredients. Smoked over a peat fire, the result is an intensely smoky taste experience unlike any other rum in existence. A true reflection of its Islay roots.
Come along to find out more, and sample these award-winning rums!
This is a free in-store tasting with no booking required.
