Shortbread House of Edinburgh - Petticoat Tails
Shortbread House is a small, family run bakery based in Scotland's historic capital city of Edinburgh. Anthony Laing and his wife Fiona acquired the business in 1989. Since then, it has grown from a small customer base in Scotland to having customers throughout the UK and abroad.
The range of products is popular because their products are genuinely made by hand, so their taste, texture and appearance are quite different from the mass produced brands. They use the very best quality ingredients and make the products to order to ensure you receive them as fresh as possible.
Four individually wrapped rounds each of which break into six triangular-shaped "petticoat tails". This curious name is said to be derived either from the French "petites gallettes" meaning little cakes or from the fact that the shape of the biscuits resembles the shape of the petticoats worn under Elizabethan full gored skirts.
