18 - Fable Whisky: Chapter 6, Crows - Blair Athol 46% 7 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl
"His bagpipes were crudely made and yet, from them, came a merry sound that stopped the crows from cawing..."
Founded in 1798, Blair Athol is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries and most visited. The Distillery sits in the quaint town of Pitlochry in the picturesque Perthshire area.
Blair Athol was historically linked to the famous Bell's Blended Scotch, where Blair Athol would provide a rich and fruity backbone. Fable looks for that fruity quality when selecting casks from Blair Athol; red apples, orange peels, and liquorice are the qualities they love to see when exploring casks from Blair Athol.

Nose: Lively with floral and grassy notes, leading to white peaches and tangy orange juice. Hints of fresh mint and warm cereal biscuity notes.
Palate: Dried orange peel and toasted gingerbread and soft hints of spice. Sweeter citrus notes develop into honey and sweet cinnamon. With water added, creamy vanilla fudge, baking spices, jam tarts, and peppery oak come to the fore.
Finish: Medium to long finish with notes of caramelised lemon, shaved oak, white pepper, honey and warming spices of cloves and caramelised vanilla.
