Lagar de Bouza, Albariño, Spain 2019 BIN NO 7405
Forget your Pouilly Fume, THIS is one of Spain's best sellers - and BETTER TOO!
Lager de Bouza is a rounded, crisp citrus white wine produced by a small cooperative in the Galacia region of Spain using 100% Albarino.
It is wonderful to drink on its own, but also goes perfectly with seafood and shellfish because of its minerality and zesty lime finish.
ABV 13%
Producer Profile
Galicia is a very individual region within Spain, with a language and culture all of its own. It is also home to what is arguably Spain's greatest white grape, Albariño, which grows on the traditional pergolas throughout the Rías Baixas area of Galicia.
Bouza do Rei is one of the best value wineries in Galicia. Working as a small cooperative, five local vineyard owners pool their resources to make just 2 wines. Lagar de Bouza is fuller, rounder and uses more press wine to give fullness of flavour.
Viticulture
The vines are grown in vineyards, supported on granite posts made by hewers. This is done in order to separate the stocks from the ground, thus protecting them from humidity and excessive vegetation. Cultivation of the vines in vineyards also favours their exposure to the sun and facilitates wine harvesting tasks and maintenance
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe citrus fruit crushed flowers and underlying minerality give way to a fresh, crisp palate of lemon zest, fresh lime, stone fruits and notes of flint soil.
