Italy’s top herbal liqueur for a reason, Vecchio Amaro del Capo is one of Caffo Distillery’s most iconic products, developed from an ancient family recipe and improved upon by four generations of the Caffo family.
Entirely natural and incorporates 29 beneficial and medicinal herbs, flowers, fruit and roots from this rich Italian region, including bitter orange and sweet orange peel, liquorice, mandarin, camomile and juniper. The result is both delicate and complex and provides the perfect introduction to the amaro category.

CAPO TONIC
- 40ml Vecchio Amaro del Capo
- 100ml tonic
- 10ml freshly squeezed lime juice
- Lime wedge to garnish
METHOD
Pour Vecchio Amaro del Capo over plenty of ice in a glass.
Top up with tonic water and freshly squeezed lime juice and mix well.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
History
The history of the Caffo family business dates back to the end of the nineteenth century, when Giuseppe Caffo, the Master Distiller, class of 1865, began distilling pomace on the side of volcanic Mount Etna. After years of experience trading and managing distilleries, his dream became reality when in 1915 he bought an old distillery in Santa Venerina, Sicily.
Caffo distillery gradually began producing and becoming renowned on the market for certain liqueurs obtained from ancient recipes. These products, the fruit of wise dosing of aromatic and medicinal herbs, infused with top quality alcohol, immediately pleased drinks connoisseurs and the refined clientele of that age. Sebastiano Caffo (1901) began to learn his father’s secrets of such an ancient and noble profession, soon becoming a "Master Distiller” himself. He demonstrated his ability to not only manage the family business, but also other distilleries which he took over, including the San Paolo Distillery in Noto and Castiglione Distillery in Sicily.
Throughout the years, the business expanded in Italy and established a number of subsidiaries abroad in Germany and USA. Their ancient liqueur recipe endures and is loved by many across the globe.
