Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is celebrating its 10th year in 2019 with the aim to showcase and enjoy the fantastic variety of amazing produce we have here in Scotland from 31st August - 15th September.
Scotland Food & Drink have set their #ScotFoodGoals to become a £30bn industry by 2030. We have no doubt that this will be achieved. In recent years we have seen exciting changes with a rise in craft producers, artisan cafes, street food markets and tasting events springing up across the country and here at Geraldo's, we like to support as many as we can.
We love being part of this industry and have listed a few of our favourite Scottish products below.
In Scotland, it is no secret that we have a bit of a sweet tooth. The Isle of Arran Chocolate Factory makes many of our luxury handmade chocolates including our best selling Parisian Creams. These dark chocolates have a smooth fondant filling in 12 different mouth-watering flavours. Take a look at Chocolatier Jan creating the delicious lime flavoured Parisian Creams and read more about these delicious luxury chocolates by clicking the link below.
Although shortbread is made in many countries it is most synonymous with Scotland. Shortbread House of Edinburgh pride themselves on making everything by hand to ensure that the taste, texture and appearance is far superior to mass produced products. You can really taste the difference and will recognise this is undoubtedly 'Shortbread without shortcuts!'
What could be nicer with Scottish shortbread than a well made cup of tea? We've been working with Scottish based tea blenders to create our own range of luxury loose-leaf teas, now available online too.
Award-winning Scottish Tablet
This award-winning Scottish tablet simply melts in your mouth. Homemade in Ayrshire and available in gift bags or our traditional white ballotin boxes, we pack it carefully by hand in our shop and it makes the perfect wee Scottish treat or gift.
Whisky in a cake
Combine our sweet tooth with our national dram and you get Asher's Whisky Cakes! These moist, aromatic cakes are laced with fine single malt whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay. Since winning the Scottish Gift of the Year Award they have been firm favourites ever since. With a choice of 3 flavours there's a cake for all tastes.
With over 70 craft gins, a range of Scottish whiskies, unusual spirits and liqueurs, we are strong supporters of the craft drinks industry and work closely with many Scottish distilleries. We have a packed-full calendar of free in-store tasting events and winter masterclasses which are hosted by drink producers and distillery brand ambassadors.
During Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight we are welcoming Bardowie Gin (31st August), Granite North Gin (7th Sept) and Ar Baile Gin (14th Sep). Meet the makers, try their gin and find out more about these fantastic Scottish gins.
Geraldo's Ice Cream
Last, but by no means least is our very own ice cream. Made freshly on our premises every day using Scottish milk and double cream from our local dairy in Largs, we are proud to support this campaign to support Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight and highlight as many producers as we can, both in our shop and online.
Celebrate Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight with us! Pop into our shop in Largs to view our full range of Scottish products or browse our website for some inspiration. We hope to see you soon.
