William Kerr’s Gin, distilled in the Borders Distillery in Hawick, is made with locally-grown malted barley and botanicals gathered from around Scotland. Named after the plant hunter, William Kerr who was born in Hawick in the Borders in 1779, this gin celebrates his sense of adventure and his passion for plants and nature.
The Borders Distillery opened its doors in 2018 and is the first Scotch Whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837. They're dedicated to capturing the true spirit of the Borders, and bringing whisky-making back to the region. Every day in the Distillery they distill from locally-grown barley to create ‘New Make Spirit’. Much of this is laid down in oak casks to begin its long, slow journey to becoming Single Malt Scotch Whisky. But they also use some of their New Make to charge their Carterhead Still, allowing them to make William Kerr’s Borders Gin.
